I want to briefly touch on search engine placement and website optimization. This is search engine 101 information. Many of my clients are fairly new to the internet or at best are only vaguely familiar with SEO (search engine optimization) and the do’s and donts. No meta tags, no search engine action. Meta tags are not nearly as important as they once were, but, still carry enough weight. Meta tags are little bits of code in portions of your websites source code that let the search engine robots know the title of the website, a brief description and of course, keywords.A brief note on keywords. I generally ask my clients to give me 7 words or phrases. You definitely do not want to use every word you can possible think of, it’ll only water down your search engine placement, drastically. Use only the most relevant keywords, in order of importance. There is a ton more information that needs to considered when optimizing for the search engines and search directories and a good professional can get you going in the right direction. Personally I think the designer should be obligated to at least be aware of the most basic search engine criteria and set your page with the proper meta tags. If not, they may be doing more harm to your business than the intended good. until next time be groovy,
